Jasper Announces Holiday Closures, Revised Trash and Recycling Schedule
The City of Jasper has announced office closures and adjusted trash and recycling pickup dates for the Christmas and New Year holidays, requiring residents to alter their usual routines. These changes affect City Hall, the Street Department, Utilities administrative offices and the Resource Recovery Site, and they matter for timely waste removal and access to municipal services.

The City of Jasper announced changes to municipal operations and curbside service for the upcoming holiday period, asking residents to note revised pickup days and earlier set out times. City Hall, the Street Department and Utilities administrative offices will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, 2025, and again on Dec. 31, 2025 and Jan. 1, 2026. The city also said the Resource Recovery Site will be closed on selected dates during the holiday period.
To maintain collection continuity, the city moved several trash and recycling pickup days. Trash and recycling originally scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 24, will be collected on Tuesday, Dec. 23. Pickups originally set for Wednesday, Dec. 25, will be handled on Friday, Dec. 26. Collections listed for Wednesday, Dec. 31, will occur on Tuesday, Dec. 30. Pickups scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 1, will take place on Friday, Jan. 2. Residents should place materials at the curb by 7 AM on collection days.
These adjustments are intended to accommodate staff closures while preserving essential sanitation services. For residents, the schedule changes require planning to avoid missed collections and to prevent overflow at curbside locations. Households that normally set materials out the night before should consider moving their schedule to meet the 7 AM guidance. The temporary closure of the Resource Recovery Site may limit options for disposing of bulky or construction related materials during this period.

From an administrative perspective, the city is balancing holiday observances for municipal workers with operational continuity for residents. Concentrating collections into alternate days can create tighter routes and compressed workloads for the Street Department and contracted haulers. Clear communication and adherence to the announced set out times will be key to minimizing disruptions.
Residents who rely on timely service or who have special removal needs should monitor city announcements and contact municipal offices when they reopen after the holidays for follow up. Accurate adherence to the revised schedule will help maintain neighborhood cleanliness and reduce the likelihood of extended service interruptions during a busy holiday week.
