Jasper baseball tops Southridge 9-1 on Senior Night
Jasper honored seven seniors and rolled past Southridge 9-1, using Senior Night to show it still has the form of a postseason threat. The win extended Jasper’s home streak to three and added to Dubois County’s rivalry weight.

Jasper turned Senior Night into a statement, beating Southridge 9-1 Friday at the JHS Sports Complex in a Dubois County rivalry game that carried more than ordinary bragging rights. With seven seniors honored before the first pitch, Jasper handled one of its most familiar opponents and sent those players off with a convincing home win that also hinted at how the Wildcats are tracking entering the late-season stretch.
The victory lifted Jasper to 15-7 and gave the Wildcats their third straight home win. Southridge fell to 13-7 in what became its lowest-scoring game of the season. MaxPreps noted that Jasper had already won eight games by eight runs or more this spring, and that kind of margin showed again against a Raiders team that had arrived with some momentum after beating Mt. Vernon.
The game also carried the kind of local significance that makes Dubois County baseball different. Jasper and Southridge both brought state championships home in 2021, when the county was described as the state’s high school baseball capital. Southridge won the Class 3A title by beating Hanover Central 2-0, while Jasper captured the Class 4A crown with a 3-1 win over Fishers. That shared history has only sharpened the meaning of their meetings since, especially when one side can use a win like this to underline postseason readiness.

A pregame preview had said Southridge had not had much luck against Jasper recently, and that trend held. Jasper coach Terry Gobert has said, “Baseball is good in Dubois County,” a line that fit the atmosphere Friday as the home crowd watched the seniors leave one more mark on the program. For Jasper, the night was about more than one rivalry win: it was a clean, emphatic reminder that this team still knows how to control a game at home when the stakes rise.
