Maddie Popp, a student at Jasper Middle School, traveled to Indianapolis earlier this session to serve as a House Page at the Indiana Statehouse, joining State Rep. Shane Lindauer on the House floor and getting an up-close look at how Indiana's legislature operates.

A photo taken Feb. 9, 2026 shows Lindauer alongside Popp on the House floor in Indianapolis. During her day as a page, Popp interacted with lawmakers and session staff, toured the Statehouse and watched the legislative process in action from the floor itself.

"I cannot emphasize enough the benefits of the House page program," Lindauer said. "From networking to experiencing a professional environment, young students get to learn more about their state government and gain valuable skills."

Lindauer, a Republican who represents House District 63, which covers all of Martin County and portions of Daviess, Dubois and Pike counties, has welcomed Jasper students to the Statehouse through the page program before. In 2023, Jasper Middle School student Luke Popp participated in the program during that year's legislative session, assisting lawmakers and staff with daily duties, touring offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joining Lindauer on the House floor to witness the legislative process firsthand.

The Indiana House Page Program is open to students ages 13 to 18. Those interested in serving as a page during the 2027 legislative session can find information at indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram or by calling 1-800-382-9841.
