Jasper police seek public help identifying suspects in theft case
Surveillance images showed two theft suspects in Jasper, and police asked neighbors and business owners to help identify them.

Jasper police are asking for help identifying two people tied to an ongoing theft investigation, using surveillance images and the public’s eyes to move the case forward in the City of Jasper.
The Jasper Police Department, which serves Jasper with 26 full-time officers and a 24-hour Real-Time Intelligence and Communication Center, said anyone with information should come forward. Anonymous tips can be left at (812) 481-COPS, and the non-emergency line is (812) 482-2255. Emergency calls should still go to 911.
The request lands during a stretch in which Jasper investigators have repeatedly turned to the community for help identifying people captured on video. Just days earlier, police asked for help identifying three individuals in a separate ongoing investigation, and recent alerts have shown that surveillance images often become the starting point for theft cases in Dubois County when officers do not yet have names to attach to the faces on camera.

That makes this case more than a routine post on a police feed. In a downtown and retail corridor where merchants depend on quick responses to shoplifting and other thefts, every hour matters when suspects remain unidentified. The department’s repeated use of public tips reflects the way many local investigations now unfold: video footage can show what happened, but a cashier, shopper, or nearby business owner is often the person who recognizes a face or a vehicle and helps close the gap.
Police have not released further details about what was taken, but they are still relying on the same local network that has helped push past cases forward. Anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information about the theft is being urged to contact Jasper police through the anonymous tip line or the non-emergency number.
