No program in Indiana High School Athletic Association history has strung together more consecutive boys golf sectional championships than Jasper's 17, a run dating back to 2008. Under first-year head coach Josh Dahmer, the Wildcats will try this spring to push that IHSAA record to 18 in a row.

The transition comes after Caleb Begle resigned following seven years at the helm. From 2018 through 2025, Begle won a sectional title every year there was a season, extending a dynasty that Steve Milligan built before him. Dahmer now inherits that legacy with the straightforward task of keeping it intact.

The roster rebuild is significant. Junior Bryce Durcholz is the lone returner from Jasper's sectional lineup last season, meaning every other contributing spot from the record 17th straight title will need to be filled by players without that level of experience.

The Wildcats have a recent blueprint for pulling it off. The 2025 Jasper girls golf team lost its entire 2024 sectional championship lineup to graduation, yet eked out a sixth consecutive sectional title in September to extend their own program record. They did it after losing to Southridge 205-220 in a match just weeks before sectionals, only for the Wildcats to win the sectional outright while Southridge finished fourth, with the teams separated by a mere three strokes.

That September outcome frames the realistic expectation for the boys this spring: a reloading year rather than a rebuilding one. Dahmer's first sectional as Wildcats coach will also be the program's next chance to extend the longest consecutive streak in Indiana boys golf history.
