Two child sexual abuse material cases have emerged from separate investigations tied to the Forsyth area, with a Forsyth County resident facing 17 felony charges related to child sexual abuse materials, according to reporting from Forsyth County News, and a second man already held without bond on seven counts following a May 10 arrest by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The second case centers on 34-year-old Jesus Flores-Vilchis, whom the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office arrested on Friday, May 10, on charges that include one count of child molestation, three counts of aggravated child molestation, and three counts of sodomy against a person under the age of 10. Flores-Vilchis faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted and is currently awaiting trial on no bond.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office did not soften its message following the arrest. "We've said it before and we will say it again you harm our children in Forsyth County, this is what you will get. Enjoy your stay at the #FreemanMotel," the office wrote in a public statement.

A separate investigation conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit resulted in the January 28, 2026 arrest of 23-year-old Billy Joe Landon Hopper, of Forsyth in Monroe County, on three counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of obstruction, and one count of tampering with evidence. That investigation began in June 2025 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitted a Cyber Tipline report to the GBI alleging Hopper possessed and distributed child sexual abuse material online. Hopper was booked into the Monroe County Jail, with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, GBI's Regional Investigative Office in Milledgeville, and the GBI Cyber Crime Center all assisting in the investigation.

The Hopper case is part of the ongoing work of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is housed within the GBI's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit and was created by the U.S. Department of Justice in response to growing predatory online activity targeting minors.

Anyone with information about child sexual exploitation cases is urged to contact the GBI at (404) 270-8870.
