The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said 911 began receiving calls of shots fired at about 8:34 a.m. in the Kelly Mill Road and Barrett Downs neighborhood area. Deputies said bullets penetrated a child’s bedroom in a neighboring house, turning the call into a high-risk domestic incident rather than a routine disturbance. Officials said the dispute involved known parties at 1628 Kelly Mill Road.

Residents in the area were told to shelter in place as deputies, SWAT and other agencies converged on the neighborhood. FOX 5 Atlanta described the response as involving an armed person barricaded inside a home off Kelly Mill Road, while other local reports placed the initial shots-fired calls near Barrett Downs Drive. Two men were arrested after the incident. 11Alive’s video description identified Jason Simmons as the person charged with aggravated assault. Atlanta News First said deputies found shots had been fired at a car.
