Talkin' Tacos to Open Second Atlanta Location at Forsyth Collection

Peachtree Parkway's restaurant mix is adding a nighttime-forward taco concept with national ambitions, as Talkin' Tacos finalized a lease at The Collection at Forsyth for what will become the brand's second Atlanta-area address.

The South Florida chain, which started as a food truck in Miramar during the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020, has been methodically building a corporate-owned footprint across major markets after its founders, childhood friends known as Mo and Omar, outgrew the lines at their original truck. The Cumming location, slated for 500 Peachtree Parkway, follows an existing Buckhead store at 2625 Piedmont Road and extends Talkin' Tacos deeper into metro Atlanta's suburban ring at a time when the chain is also targeting Nashville, Washington D.C., Boston, and additional Florida sites.

Daryl Perez, the company's executive director of corporate and franchise operations, said the company is "in the early stages of development" at the Cumming site and anticipates opening by the end of 2026. The company's current expansion strategy centers on corporate-owned restaurants rather than franchises, a deliberate pivot from the model it had previously offered, which started franchisees at roughly $280,000 in startup costs plus a 6 percent royalty.

For The Collection at Forsyth's landlord, the signed lease from a fast-casual concept plotting national growth carries weight beyond a single new tenant. Forsyth County's projected 2025 population sits at approximately 285,770 and is growing at about 2 percent annually, producing exactly the suburban consumer density that expanding restaurant chains map before committing to a second or third metro-area location. A lease from a chain in active national build-out mode signals to other concepts still evaluating Georgia suburban markets that Cumming can absorb a brand chasing cities like Boston and D.C. simultaneously.

Talkin' Tacos is built around birria tacos, flavored churros, and a nighttime-oriented interior aesthetic, a positioning that would slot into The Collection's evening traffic rather than compete directly with its lunch-forward fast-casual tenants. For nearby independent taco and Mexican-food operators on Peachtree Parkway, the brand's late-night orientation represents both a competitive pressure and, potentially, a rising-tide effect if the Cumming opening draws customers who extend their visits to neighboring storefronts.

The corporate-ownership model also shapes what the opening means for the local labor market. Hourly workers, shift managers, and kitchen staff hired under a single corporate employer structure tend to see more consistent wage and benefit terms than those hired through a franchise operator, a distinction that matters in a service-sector job market that Forsyth County employers have consistently flagged as difficult to fully staff. The opening adds to Forsyth's sales-tax base as well, with every new restaurant on Peachtree Parkway contributing receipts that support county revenues over time.

Whether the brand's urban, after-hours identity translates cleanly to the family-oriented weekday evenings typical of south Forsyth will be the real test once the doors open.
