24-Year-Old Man Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash Near Parlier

A 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday morning after a three-vehicle crash at East Dinuba Avenue and South Zediker Avenue, south of Parlier, left one other person hospitalized and drew emergency crews to an agricultural stretch of road that bystanders say has a history of collisions.

The California Highway Patrol says a black Hyundai was traveling east on Dinuba Avenue when the driver ran a stop sign, and a Nissan truck heading south on Zediker Avenue crashed into the Hyundai. A third vehicle waiting at the intersection was also hit. KMPH reported the third vehicle as an Infiniti; another account described it as unidentified.

The CHP says the impact caused the Hyundai to go into an orchard. Investigators said the Hyundai's airbags deployed. Zediker Avenue carries no stop sign at that approach, meaning the Nissan truck driver had the right of way when the Hyundai entered the intersection.

The driver of the Hyundai died from his injuries, and it is not known if drugs or alcohol were factors. The man has not been identified. The incident occurred on March 25 at 6:41 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. One other person was hospitalized; no information on that person's identity, age, or condition has been released.

The Fresno County Coroner's Office was notified and dispatched to the scene. No arrests have been reported in connection with the crash.

The location, near the address of 15020 East Dinuba Avenue, sits amid the farmland south of Parlier's city limits. People driving past the intersection told KMPH that the crossing is busy and that they have witnessed accidents there before. A separate two-vehicle crash near Parlier resulting in major injuries was also recorded at East Dinuba Avenue and South Zediker Avenue, underscoring a pattern of serious collisions at the same intersection.

Roads remained open during the investigation, and no closures were reported. The investigation is underway, with authorities working to determine the cause of the crash. The Fresno County Coroner's Office has not yet announced a timeline for releasing the victim's identity.
