City of Clovis Offers Free Compost to Residents March 7
Clovis residents may collect up to 3 cubic yards of free compost at 810 Nees Avenue on March 7; tickets were mailed to eligible homes and proof of Clovis residency is required.

Clovis residents may collect up to 3 cubic yards of free compost at 810 Nees Avenue, with the City of Clovis and contractor Mid Valley Disposal scheduling the giveaway for Saturday, March 7 from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM or while supplies last. Event tickets have been mailed to eligible residences, and attendees must present the mailed ticket plus proof of Clovis residency such as an ID showing a Clovis address or a utility bill.
Participants must bring their own container to carry compost; city staff will be on site to assist with loading if needed. The event ticket contains a QR code that links to a required loading waiver and liability release form, and a signed ticket acknowledges agreement with that form. Hard copies of the waiver will be available at the giveaway for those unable to access the QR code beforehand.
The compost supplied at the event comes from Mid Valley Disposal’s compost facility and is produced using material from Clovis’s organics collection program. In its program FAQ the city frames the giveaway as a recycling loop, saying, "This is your green waste and organics recycling at work!" The city’s Instagram promotion likewise called the giveaway "the annual free Compost Giveaway for Clovis residents, provided by the City of Clovis and Mid Valley Disposal," and encouraged residents to use the material for spring home projects.
This giveaway continues a recurring municipal program; a City of Clovis Facebook post from February 16, 2025 advertised the same 810 Nees Avenue site for a prior-year event and named Republic Services as the 2025 partner. That 2025 post recorded social engagement in the excerpt, 59 reactions, 14 comments and 37 shares, and included resident questions such as one from Christina Strutt asking what the voucher ticket looks like and a comment from Bryan Beckstrand calling the program "an example of socialism," illustrating mixed public reaction in prior years.

Community postings reflect strong demand: a Reddit post announcing the March 7 event noted that supplies "don't usually last more than a few hours," a user-reported observation that suggests arriving early if seeking the compost. For residents who believe they are eligible but did not receive a ticket or who lost their ticket, the City of Clovis Public Utilities Department can be reached at (559) 324-2600; a 2025 Facebook excerpt also referenced the Public Utilities Department’s Solid Waste Division at (559) 324-2604.
The city posted a public-service announcement about the free compost giveaway on February 18, 2026; additional event details and the Compost 2026 FAQ are available on the city’s official Compost 2026 information page. The giveaway will operate at 810 Nees Avenue from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM on March 7, subject to the 3-cubic-yard residential limit and the event’s waiver requirements.
