Clovis East beats Elk Grove, advances in NorCal softball playoffs

Clovis East kept its postseason push alive with a 4-1 win over Elk Grove in the opening round of the 2026 CIF NorCal Softball Championships Division I bracket, a result that sent the No. 2 seed into Thursday’s regional semifinal against No. 6 Whitney of Rocklin.

The Timberwolves did not run away with it early. Elk Grove, the No. 7 seed, kept the game close until Clovis East broke through with three runs in the sixth inning, turning a tight regional game into a decisive finish. The regional final was set for June 6, leaving little room for error as the field narrows.

Clovis East’s side of the Division I bracket sat alongside other high-profile matchups, including Destiny Christian Academy against Saint Francis and Archbishop Mitty against Whitney, underscoring how competitive the NorCal field has been.
