Dirt Bike Rider Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash With Pickup in Fresno
A pit bike with no lights collided with a turning pickup truck on Fresno Street, leaving the unidentified rider in serious condition.

A rider on a small gas-powered dirt motorcycle was hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday evening after colliding with a northbound pickup truck that was turning left at an intersection in central Fresno, authorities said.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at Fresno Street and Cambridge Avenue. Investigators determined the dirt bike was traveling southbound along the west curb of Fresno Street when the pickup, heading northbound, began making a left turn and the two vehicles met in the intersection.
Fresno Police Sgt. Mike Stanford described the sequence from the scene: "It appears the pit bike was going southbound on Fresno Street along the west curve, the truck was going northbound. The truck was making a left turn and as the pit bike was approaching the intersection, they collided in the intersection behind me."
A detail investigators flagged immediately: the motorcycle, variously described in reports as a pit bike and off-road motorcycle, did not have lights on when it entered the intersection. Officers described the rider's injuries as serious but said the person is expected to survive. The rider was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where the condition remained listed as serious. Authorities were still working to identify the rider as of Wednesday night.

The pickup driver remained at the scene and was not injured. Fresno police officers evaluated the driver as part of standard post-collision procedure. At the time of the initial report, there was no indication that either party was impaired.
The intersection was expected to remain closed for up to one to two hours while the investigation continued. No charges or citations were reported, and Fresno police said the investigation remains ongoing.
