Fresno Apartment Shooting Kills One Man, Wounds Another; Suspect Flees
Shannon Ivory, 32, was killed and a 22-year-old wounded after a fight at Colonia Del Sol apartments escalated into gunfire early Sunday; the shooter fled east on Barstow.

Shannon Ivory never made it home from the Colonia Del Sol apartments. The 32-year-old was found in the carport of the northwest Fresno complex around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, March 15, with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died. A second man, 22, was found on an upstairs landing with a gunshot wound to the abdomen; he reached the hospital in stable condition.
Neither victim lived at Colonia Del Sol, which sits at the corner of Barstow and San Pablo avenues near Blackstone Avenue. Fresno Police spokesperson Brian Vallez said both men had come to the complex with a woman who was picking up belongings. While they were there, a dispute broke out with another resident. "During some of that time at that apartment, a disturbance occurred, at which point they were shot," Vallez said. An unknown man associated with that resident then pulled a gun and fired several shots at both victims.
Vallez said investigators believe at least one shot may have originated inside an apartment, but the physical evidence points to the carport as the primary scene. "There's indication that there possibly was a shot fired inside the apartment. We know conclusively, however, that they both were shot in the carport area," he said.
The shooter did not linger. He left in a vehicle heading eastbound on Barstow Avenue and had not been identified by name as of initial reporting. Homicide detectives canvassed the surrounding neighborhood for surveillance video and witnesses in the hours after the shooting.

Lt. Marcus Gray II told reporters that the case had no confirmed suspect, motive, or gang connection. "We're really early in the investigation," Gray said. "We don't have information to provide at this time on a suspect, a motive, or any gang affiliation."
The killing was the fifth homicide recorded in Fresno in 2026, compared with two at the same point last year. Vallez said the department responds to such incidents by deploying additional proactive units to affected neighborhoods and coordinates closely with the Fresno County District Attorney's office to pursue prosecution once a suspect is identified.
