Fresno Coroner Seeks Relatives of Elderly Man Found Dead
The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner Unit is asking the public to help locate relatives of an 81 year old man presumed to be Alfred Perez Ochoa, who was found dead inside a Fresno home on December 23. Identifying next of kin is necessary to complete customary postmortem notifications and to arrange disposition of the remains, a step that affects both family rights and county procedures.

Fresno County authorities on December 23 discovered an elderly man dead inside a residence near McKenzie Avenue and Second Street in Fresno, and the Coroner Unit is now asking for the publics help in identifying his relatives. The man is believed to be Alfred Perez Ochoa, born Feb. 11, 1944, and was last seen alive in mid November before being found deceased in the home on Tuesday.
Coroner staff searched personal records at the scene and through available files but were unable to identify immediate family members required to release the body and to make burial arrangements. The office said identifying next of kin is necessary to proceed with customary postmortem notifications and disposition of remains. Until those relatives are located, the county cannot complete the usual steps for notifying family and arranging final disposition.
The request places a spotlight on how public agencies handle unclaimed or unidentified deaths and underscores the importance of family records for older residents who may be isolated. For neighbors and community members this is a reminder that timely reporting of missing persons and maintaining up to date emergency contact information can affect how quickly families are notified and how human remains are treated with dignity.

Local residents who may have information about possible relatives of the man presumed to be Alfred Perez Ochoa are asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff Coroner Unit directly. Call 559 600 3400 or email coroner@fresnosheriff.org with any information that could help identify next of kin. The Coroner Unit is seeking prompt contacts so customary notifications and disposition arrangements can proceed.
