Fresno County Coroner Seeks Relatives of 62-Year-Old William Rivera

The Fresno County Sheriff–Coroner’s Office is asking the public to help locate relatives of William Rivera, 62, of Fresno, who recently passed away. The coroner’s office has not been able to reach any immediate family members after searching available records, and the office says locating relatives is required before the body can be released.

“The coroner’s office said William Rivera of Fresno has no known family members who have been reached so far,” a republished advisory on KMPH noted, reflecting the sheriff–coroner’s request for public assistance. KMPH’s item referenced an image file labeled RIVERA.jpg and appears under the station’s 2026 Sinclair, Inc. site footer.

Goldrushcam republished the sheriff–coroner notice with a February 12, 2026 dateline and a byline credited to Stephen Hawkins. That posting included the statement, “Staff at the Coroner’s Office have searched numerous personal records, but their attempts to contact family members have been unsuccessful,” and carried a photo line reading “Source & photo: Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.”

The office’s public explanation stresses the procedural need to identify next of kin. “Locating immediate family members is a necessary process in order for the Coroner’s Unit to release the body and allow the person to have a proper burial,” the Goldrushcam posting quoted from the Coroner’s Office release. The notices provided specific contact information for tips: the Coroner’s Unit can be reached at (559) 600-3400 or by email at coroner@fresnosheriff.org.

Readers should note the Goldrushcam page also contains visible site artifacts and a typographical anomaly in its text reading “FCSO nok Riveralocating relatives,” which appears to be a posting error on that page rather than new factual information. The phrasing used in these notices mirrors language the sheriff–coroner’s office has used on social platforms; a separate Facebook fragment from the office requested help locating relatives of Daniel Joseph Lawrence, 46, of Fresno, demonstrating the agency’s recurring outreach method.
