Fresno County Deputies Investigate Fatal Shooting at Huron Intersection
A person was shot multiple times and killed Friday afternoon near a Huron farmers market at Crocker Ave. and Los Angeles St.; deputies say a suspect fled and no one is in custody.

Fresno County sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that unfolded just after 4:30 p.m. Friday about a block from a weekly farmers market in Huron, leaving one person dead in the roadway as families and vendors gathered nearby.
Deputies responded to calls of shots fired at the intersection of Crocker Avenue and Los Angeles Street and found a person lying in the road who had been shot multiple times. A white Nissan with apparent damage was also found in the roadway next to evidence markers. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect was seen leaving the area before deputies arrived, and no one is in custody. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said it does not believe there is an immediate public threat, but the suspect's identity and whereabouts remain unknown. Whether one or multiple people were involved has not been determined, and no motive has been established.
FCSO Sergeant Alan Kelzer said investigators were in the early stages of the case. "Beginning stages and typically in any investigation at this point, we would be canvassing for surveillance, witness statements, and all that if there are any," Kelzer said. The victim's identity has not been released while detectives work to notify family members. As of late Friday night, most of the surrounding neighborhood remained blocked off, and authorities said they expected to stay in the area through Saturday. Some attendees at the market said they have seen an increase in violence in the community.
Friday proved a particularly violent day in Fresno County. Hours after the Huron killing, Fresno police responded just after 11 p.m. to the 700 block of Fulton Street in downtown Fresno, where a man in his 40s was found in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He died at Community Regional Medical Center. Fresno Police Lt. Michael Pierce said officers contacted as many as 50 witnesses and confirmed investigators are collecting surveillance video from nearby businesses. That death marked the seventh homicide in Fresno this year; the suspect in that case also remains at large.
Anyone with information about the Huron shooting is urged to contact detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. Tips on the downtown Fulton Street killing can be submitted to Fresno police at 559-621-7000.
