Fresno home heavily damaged in Sunday night fire, two displaced

Heavy flames tore through a Fresno home near North Avenue and Peach Avenue, leaving two residents without housing and heavily damaging the structure. CAL FIRE and Fresno County Fire responded to the residential fire around 11 p.m. Sunday, July 26.

Helmet-cam footage from the response showed firefighters facing a wall of fire as they worked around the house on the Fresno block. The blaze was intense enough to draw a fast emergency response, but officials said no injuries were reported.

The fire hit in a neighborhood near the North Avenue and Peach Avenue corridor, where crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire shortly before midnight. Firefighters battled the flames at the scene as the home burned, and the damage left the property heavily affected.

Officials said two residents were displaced by the fire. That left the pair needing to find another place to stay after the home was damaged beyond normal living conditions.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation. CAL FIRE and Fresno County Fire did not release a determination on what started the blaze, and no additional injuries were reported in the response.
