A Fresno man was stabbed and robbed late Saturday night, and the suspects who attacked him remained at large as police opened an investigation.

Fresno police responded to the attack but had not publicly disclosed the specific location of the assault, the victim's condition, or any descriptions of the suspects. Investigators were actively working to identify and locate those responsible.

The stabbing arrives as Fresno contends with a troubling increase in violent crime. City police reported nine killings so far in 2026, compared to four at the same point last year, signaling a troubling trend for the Central California community. The surge is a jarring reversal from just months earlier: the murder rate in Fresno closed out 2025 at a 51-year low, a milestone highlighted in the Fresno Police Department's year-end review.

Downtown Fresno saw multiple stabbings on the night of April 2 tied to an ArtHop event, leaving two victims hospitalized. Seven people were detained but no arrests were made.

Anyone with information about Saturday's robbery and stabbing is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000. Anonymous tips can also be directed to Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867). Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.
