Fresno Police Arrest Four, Issue 48 Citations in Street Racing Crackdown
Four drivers were arrested for DUI and 10 vehicles were towed as Fresno police blanketed the city Sunday targeting illegal street racing and sideshows.

Four drivers ended Sunday night in handcuffs as the Fresno Police Department's Street Racing and Sideshow Enforcement operation swept the city on March 22, producing 48 citations, 10 towed vehicles, and four DUI arrests in a single evening.
The department deployed Motor Units to monitor citywide for illegal street racing and sideshows as part of what FPD described as a three-pronged enforcement sweep. The operation was aimed at curbing illegal street racing, sideshows, and hazardous driving behavior across Fresno.
Not every car gathering drew enforcement action. The department noted that some car meet-ups were civil and did not cross the line, but the few drivers who chose to leave those meet-ups recklessly were stopped by waiting officers.
The 48 citations represent the clearest measure of the operation's reach, with 10 vehicles removed from the road by tow. The four DUI arrests underscore that the enforcement swept up impaired drivers alongside those engaging in stunt driving and racing.

Police issued a pointed reminder: if you race, sideshow, spin donuts, film donuts, cheer on donuts, or otherwise contribute to donut-related chaos, your car may be impounded for 30 days. In a social media post, the department added: "Fresno is NOT the place for illegal street stunts."
Anyone who witnesses street racing or sideshow activity is urged to step back, stay safe, and call 911 or 559-621-RACE.
The March 22 operation is the latest in a pattern of FPD enforcement actions targeting Fresno's street racing problem. Under California law, vehicles involved in illegal racing or sideshows, including those aiding or abetting such activity, are subject to a 30-day impound, a penalty the department has repeatedly highlighted to deter participation.
