Fresno Police Seek Tips to ID Suspect in Ashlan Area Robbery
A suspect physically took a victim's necklace and cell phone near Ashlan and Cornelia in a Feb. 22 strong-arm robbery; Fresno Police released surveillance images and need tips to ID the suspect.

Surveillance images of the suspect who physically took a victim's necklace and cell phone near Ashlan and Cornelia avenues are now public, and Fresno Police are asking anyone who recognizes the face to come forward.
The robbery happened the night of Feb. 22 at the Ashlan and Cornelia intersection, a stretch of Fresno where residential streets press up against strip retail. The unidentified suspect used physical force to steal the necklace and cell phone directly from the victim, the defining elements of a strong-armed robbery: no weapon displayed, but force applied against the person.
Detectives released surveillance images on March 27, more than a month after the incident. That delay typically signals investigators have worked available physical leads and are now relying on community recognition to advance the case. Fresno Police have not publicly indicated whether this robbery is connected to other incidents along the Ashlan corridor, though anyone with information about related activity is encouraged to include it when they call.
The lead investigator, Detective Jacob Fleischmann, can be reached at (559) 394-7207 or at Jacob.Fleischmann@fresno.gov. Anonymity is an option: Crime Stoppers accepts tips with no identifying information required, at (559) 498-STOP, or (559) 498-7867.

Anyone who was near Ashlan and Cornelia the night of Feb. 22 should check doorbell cameras, dash-cam recordings, and home security footage from that date. Even partial or low-resolution video showing the suspect's approach or direction of travel after the robbery can give detectives the timeline details they need. Business owners with exterior cameras along that block are equally encouraged to pull footage and send it directly to Fleischmann.
Consistent exterior lighting, visible surveillance equipment, and a policy of calling 911 immediately rather than waiting to assess whether a confrontation escalates remain the most effective deterrents for street-level robberies at mixed-use intersections like this one. Those with safety concerns specific to the Ashlan and Cornelia area can contact the Fresno Police Department through fresno.gov/police.
