Man Shot and Killed Thursday Night in Southwest Fresno, Police Confirm
A man was found unresponsive in the street with multiple gunshot wounds Thursday night on East Samson in southwest Fresno and pronounced dead at the scene.

Fresno Police confirmed a man was shot and killed Thursday night on East Samson between MLK Jr. Boulevard and Clara Avenue, in a stretch of southwest Fresno that remained blocked off as investigators worked through the night and into Friday morning.
Officers arrived to find a large disturbance and what police described as a "chaotic scene." They later discovered one man lying unresponsive in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered medical aid on the scene, but he was pronounced dead before he could be transported. His name has not been released, and no information about his age or residence was available.
Police said they have no information on a suspect or suspects in the shooting. Authorities were explicit that there is no threat to the public, though East Samson remained blocked off as officers expected to be on scene "for hours."

An earlier initial report placed the shooting at East Salmon and South Fig avenues, while Fresno police's more detailed account identified the location as East Samson between MLK Jr. Boulevard and Clara Avenue. The discrepancy in street names could not immediately be reconciled, and the exact block involved remained subject to verification with the Fresno Police Department's public information office.
No weapons recovered, no suspect descriptions, and no indication of whether Fresno Police's homicide unit had formally assumed the investigation were included in any official statements released Thursday night. The circumstances leading to the shooting, including what prompted the disturbance officers encountered on arrival, remain under investigation.
