Over 200 Join Inaugural Cpl. Javier Bejar Memorial 5K and 10K
More than 200 people ran the inaugural Cpl. Javier Bejar Memorial 5K and 10K, starting in front of the Reedley Police Department to honor Cpl. Bejar.

More than 200 participants gathered in downtown Reedley to run the inaugural Cpl. Javier Bejar Memorial 5K and 10K, with the start line set in front of the Reedley Police Department. The community event drew neighborhood runners, families, and area residents to celebrate the memory of Cpl. Javier Bejar and to use the streets around G Street and Reed Avenue for the two race distances.
The memorial run was held Feb. 21, 2026, and offered timed 5K and 10K courses through Reedley’s central business district. Organizers marked the start in front of the Reedley Police Department and routed runners past downtown blocks so the race both began and finished within sight of city hall and local businesses that line Reedley’s main corridor.
Officials counted more than 200 entrants across the two distances, making the first-year turnout one of the larger community runs in recent Reedley calendar activity. The field included a mix of competitive runners and walkers who chose either the 5K or the 10K course; volunteers and on-site staff positioned at the Reedley Police Department managed the start area and participant check-in.
The event was organized to honor the memory of Cpl. Javier Bejar and to bring community members together in downtown Reedley. With more than 200 people taking part on Feb. 21, the inaugural run established a baseline for future memorial activities tied to the Reedley Police Department and highlighted local civic engagement around public safety and remembrance.
