Parts of Fresno City College Closed Monday After Vehicle Damages Water Line
A vehicle struck and severely damaged Fresno City College’s main water lines in Parking Lot K, prompting a partial campus closure Monday while crews assess repairs.

Fresno City College warned Sunday night that a vehicle accident caused severe damage to the campus main water lines in Parking Lot K, located behind the Old Administration Building, and that much of the campus would be closed Monday, February 2 while crews assess and respond to the break. The college posted an Emergency Alert labeled “Emergency Alert - Partial Campus Closure” on its website, which also states, “Due to a disruption to the main water line, campus will be partially closed on Monday, February 2.”
The college’s initial notice begins: “This evening a vehicle accident caused severe damage to the main college water lines in Parking Lot K, located behind the Old Administration Building. As a result, much of the Fresno City College campus will be closed on Monday, February 2 while the”, the public notice available at the time was truncated after “while the,” and the college has not yet posted a complete follow-up in the alert text. The college directed students, staff and visitors to the Fresno City College website for updates.
Fresno City College identified several buildings and services that will remain open during the partial closure. The New Science Building, Child Development Center, Radcliffe Stadium and Field House, Health Sciences Building, Welcome Center/Mailroom and the State Center Community College District Police Department were listed as continuing operations. The college has not published a full list of closed buildings, and the extent of the outage across campus facilities is not yet detailed in the public notice.
The announcement did not include information on injuries, the driver or vehicle involved, whether campus water service to neighboring properties was affected, or an estimated timeline for repairs and reopening. There is no statement in the alert about class cancellations, remote instruction, or impacts to student services such as the Ram Pantry. The campus web capture that carried the alert also shows routine event and program information, including Black History Month programming, the Ram Pantry description, and a Feb. 6 Walk In Peace Concert listing; none of those items were identified in the alert as canceled or affected.

The disruption raises immediate operational questions for students and staff, including access to restrooms, food services and scheduled classes in buildings not listed as open. Facilities crews and campus police are presumably coordinating the assessment and response, but the college has not released additional details or an on-the-record statement beyond the emergency alert.
For now, Fresno City College students, employees and visitors should check the college’s official website and campus communications for updates before coming to campus. The partial closure is in effect Monday while damage assessment continues, and further information on which buildings are closed, any class cancellations and estimated repair timelines is expected to follow as campus officials complete their evaluation.
