Reedley College Lady Tigers Softball Ends Losing Streak Against Porterville

The Lady Tigers finally got what they had been chasing. Reedley College's softball team ended a prolonged losing streak with a 7-2 win over the Porterville College Panthers on March 12, giving head coach Stefanie Nomura and her squad a result that had felt elusive through the early portion of the season.

Mia Castillo carried a heavy load in the victory, contributing both in the circle as the starting pitcher and at the plate. Her dual performance gave Reedley College the kind of two-way production that changes the complexion of a game, limiting a Porterville offense that had Alexandrea Andrighetto working in the opposite direction for the Panthers.

Center fielder Za'Cari Donald also factored into the win, giving Nomura multiple contributors to point to as the Lady Tigers built their five-run margin. The 7-2 final reflected Reedley's command of the contest rather than a narrow escape.

Porterville College, anchored by pitcher Andrighetto, managed only two runs against a Reedley side that appeared sharper and more composed than in recent outings. The Panthers were unable to generate enough offense to threaten a comeback.
