Road rage stabbing in north Fresno sends driver to hospital
A north Fresno road-rage fight turned into a stabbing near Blackstone and Bullard, sending one driver to the hospital and leaving police hunting the attacker.
A driving dispute in north Fresno turned violent just after 5 p.m. Saturday when one man was stabbed in an AM/PM parking lot near Blackstone and Bullard avenues, turning a routine evening stop into a hospital run.
Fresno police said the incident began between two drivers who pulled off the road and got out of their vehicles in the parking lot. Lt. Zeb Price said the fight escalated there, and the suspect stabbed the victim in the upper body before fleeing the scene. The wounded driver was taken to a hospital and was reported to be stable and expected to be okay.
Investigators have not released a suspect description, and police were still searching for the attacker. Anyone with information has been asked to call Fresno police at 559-621-7000.
The stabbing landed in one of north Fresno’s busiest commercial corridors, where Blackstone and Bullard draw steady traffic from nearby shops, gas stations and restaurants. That visibility can cut both ways: it also means a confrontation can unfold in full view of other drivers and bystanders before officers arrive.
The case adds to a recent run of road-rage violence in Fresno, including another stabbing reported in late March. The close timing of the incidents has sharpened concern over how quickly ordinary traffic disputes can turn life-threatening once drivers leave their cars and confront each other face to face.
Fresno police have urged anyone who saw the fight, the suspect’s vehicle, or the moments before the stabbing to come forward. With no description released yet, investigators are relying on witnesses and any nearby surveillance video from the Blackstone and Bullard area to identify the attacker and determine exactly what sparked the confrontation.
For north Fresno drivers, the case is another reminder that a minor traffic argument can become a serious violent crime in seconds, especially in a crowded parking lot where tempers can flare and escape routes vanish.
