Security Guard Stabbed Outside Fresno Credit Union During Family Dispute
A security guard was stabbed in the back with a pocket knife outside Golden 1 Credit Union in northeast Fresno after stepping between a woman and her sons.

A security guard stepped between a woman and her sons outside the Golden 1 Credit Union at Shaw and Effie avenues in northeast Fresno on Monday afternoon and was stabbed in the back with a pocket knife for his effort.
The attack occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on March 30 as the guard attempted to de-escalate a family dispute that had turned volatile. One of the sons produced a pocket knife and struck the guard in the back, according to Fresno police. The injury was described as superficial.
The guard was transported to Community Regional Medical Center as a precaution and is expected to make a full recovery.
As of Monday evening, no arrests had been confirmed. Fresno Police Department investigators were continuing to work the case, with detectives expected to review any available surveillance footage from the credit union and interview witnesses who were present during the confrontation. Whether criminal charges will be filed against the person who used the knife remains under investigation.
The intersection of Shaw and Effie sits inside a busy northeast Fresno commercial corridor, and the Golden 1 branch draws steady customer traffic throughout the week. On-site security is standard practice at financial institutions in high-traffic areas, but Monday's incident illustrated how quickly a routine intervention can turn dangerous. The guard's decision to step in likely prevented the dispute from escalating further, even as it placed him directly in harm's way.
The identities of the woman and her sons have not been released.
Anyone who witnessed the stabbing or has information about those involved is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department.
