A Dodge Charger Hellcat crested the roadway at Shaw and Maroa avenues in Fresno and went airborne, carving a path of destruction that authorities estimate stretched more than 500 feet before the vehicle came to rest nearly a block away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026. California Highway Patrol officers at the scene declared the car a total loss and said the driver walked away "unharmed."

The vehicle sheared off a street sign and tore through a bus stop, including the bench, then twisted a business marquee and shattered storefront glass at Cell Tech before striking a parked car and gouging into a brick wall. Debris from the crash scattered across the corridor and investigators measured the wreckage trail at roughly 500 feet or more from the point the car became airborne to its final resting place.

On-scene accounts added detail to the damage pattern. The bus bench was flung into a handicapped parking space and a metal pole struck Cell Tech's glass windows, while debris also dented the shop owner’s parked vehicle. An Instagram post by fresnouncensored credited a photo to @chp_fresno and said in its caption, "A Charger Hellcat hit a crest in the roadway, went airborne, and carved out over 500 feet of destruction before coming to rest as a destroyed mess. In all he managed to destroy a mailbox, street sign, bus stop, business marquee, shattered a windows, damaged a parked car, and hit a brick wall."

The owner of Cell Tech, who requested anonymity, described running outside after the crash and seeing the driver emerge with cuts. "When I ran over there, the kid came out. He was all cut, but he was fine. He came out alive," the owner said. Emergency medical transport or hospital treatment for the driver was not reported by authorities; law enforcement continued to investigate.

CHP investigators told reporters that speed was the primary factor in the collision and that there was no indication of alcohol or drugs. Officials have not released a measured speed figure, the driver's identity, or whether any citations or charges will be filed as the probe continues.

Public reaction on social media reflected shock and curiosity. Instagram users including mamaw_yoli_of_3 asked "Ok, but how is the driver/any passengers" while imadoitmovin commented "Wow there’s a hellcat in Fresno? Lol must be 1 of 1." The months ahead will focus on the CHP investigation and repair costs for the damaged bus stop, marquee, storefront window at Cell Tech, the sheared street sign, and other public and private property along Shaw and Maroa.
