Two Fires Break Out at Unoccupied Southwest Fresno Home Sunday Morning
Two fires burned simultaneously at a southwest Fresno home near Lily and Belgravia Sunday — one in the garage, one in a bedroom. No one was inside.

Two distinct fires burning on the same property drew Fresno Fire Department crews to a home near Lily and Belgravia Avenues in southwest Fresno around 6 a.m. Sunday, April 5. One fire had ignited inside a detached garage; a second burned in a bedroom of the main structure. The home was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Arriving crews found the two separate pockets of fire upon approach, immediately triggering both a firefighting and investigative response. Firefighters worked to contain the flames, extinguish hotspots, and ensure the blaze did not jump to neighboring structures.
Fresno Fire did not identify an official cause in its early reporting. Investigators planned to examine the scene for accidental sources, including electrical failure and discarded smoking materials, while also assessing any indicators of intentional ignition. The presence of two simultaneous fires on a single unoccupied property added weight to the investigative work.
With no occupants inside, crews focused on property protection and containment. The department flagged potential traffic impacts and air-quality concerns from smoke for nearby residents while the scene remained active.
Structural assessments will likely be needed to determine whether the home is safe for reentry or salvage. Cause-and-origin work was expected to continue in coordination with other local agencies. Anyone who observed unusual activity near the Lily and Belgravia Avenues property before Sunday morning is encouraged to contact Fresno Fire with information.
