Goochland Girls Lacrosse Falls to Culpeper County 20-6 in Season Opener

Culpeper County came into Goochland on Friday, March 20, and left with a 20-6 victory over the Bulldogs varsity girls lacrosse team in what amounted to a sobering start to the 2026 season at Goochland High School on West River Road.

The final, posted to MaxPreps alongside a full box score, was never particularly close. Culpeper County built a 14-goal advantage by the final whistle, with Goochland finishing the game with six goals against a Blue Devils squad that showed the kind of offensive depth that makes the regional matchup a steep early-season test.

No individual player statistics were available at press time, and neither program had released postgame remarks. The game was also available to stream through NFHS Network, which hosted an event page for the March 20 matchup.

Three days later, the Bulldogs were back on the road, falling to Patrick Henry High School 17-11 on Monday, March 23, in another early-season setback.

The 2025 season offered little relief for comparison. Goochland dropped every game tracked on MaxPreps last spring, including a 22-3 loss to Clover Hill on April 28, a 13-10 loss to Charlottesville on May 6, a 10-0 shutout at the hands of Monticello on May 12, a 16-5 defeat against Orange County on May 16, and a 19-3 loss to Fluvanna County on May 20. Culpeper County also beat Goochland last spring, 13-6, on May 21, 2025, making Friday's rematch the second consecutive season the two programs have met, with Culpeper winning both.
