Goochland High Weekly Bulletin Highlights Counselor Appreciation Week, Upcoming Events
Goochland High is asking families to thank counselors ahead of School Counselor Appreciation Week and flagging traffic, overdue library items, a career talk, and winter sports updates.

Goochland High School is asking families to recognize its counseling team as the school prepares for School Counselor Appreciation Week from February 6 to 10. "Please take a moment to thank our AMAZING school counselors at GHS. They are truly the heartbeat of our school," the Bulldog Bulletin states, listing Ms. Mallory McMullin (last names A - G), Ms. Kelsey Fisher (last names H - Q), Ms. Renee Ferrell (last names R - Z) and Ms. Ashley Lawson as the mental health counselor.
The weekly bulletin, posted for January 26–30, also flagged traffic impacts tied to construction near campus. "There will be more traffic on Bulldog Way due to the construction of the new Goochland Elementary School. This will include heavy equipment and at times road crews. Please take this into consideration as you travel to and from GHS," the notice advises. Bulldog Way is the primary access point for drop-off and pickup at Goochland High, and residents and commuters should plan for intermittent slowdowns and large vehicles in the roadway.
Library and technology returns are another priority for school administrators. "Please check around the house for any library books, textbooks, or loaner GCPS technology. We have more than 170 students that have overdue items. All items can be returned to the Learning Commons. We do not assess fines, but we do charge for lost books and laptop chargers. Please email Ms. Palmer (apalmer@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions," the bulletin states. The school did not provide a breakdown of items or the dollar amounts charged for replacements.
Students were invited to a career session late in the bulletin. "Dr. Andy Armstrong, GCPS Assistant Superintendent for Administration, will be providing an informational session about his career in education on Monday, January 30th during Bulldog block in the auditorium. If you are a student interested in attending, please fill out this form." The bulletin did not include the sign-up link or details on Bulldog block timing; parents and students seeking clarification should contact the school.
Athletics updates point to the start of the winter season and schedule management for fans. GHS noted that its winter teams are forming and encouraged followers to consult the school’s athletics pages for schedules and to use the NFHS Network for available live streams. For athletics questions, families can contact Joe Fowler at jfowler@glnd.k12.va.us.
