Goochland supervisors schedule July 7 meeting with public hearings

A short-term-rental permit, a real-estate access easement tied to Fire Training Center property and a budget amendment were on the table when Goochland supervisors met Tuesday afternoon and evening. The county set the Board of Supervisors meeting for 3 p.m. business and 6 p.m. public hearings in Board Meeting Room 250 at 1800 Sandy Hook Road in Goochland.

The clearest item for nearby property owners was a District 4 conditional-use permit application from Rebecca Ireland for an unhosted short-term rental at 443 Wood Acres Road. The parcel covers 3.481 acres, is zoned Agricultural, Limited, or A-2, and County Zoning Ordinance Sec. 15-112 and Sec. 15-285.G require the permit. The Comprehensive Plan designates the area as Single Family Residential, Low Density, putting the request in an area the county has already mapped for low-density residential use.

The public-hearing agenda also included consideration of a real-estate access easement across part of the Fire Training Center property, along with a budget amendment item. The county invited comments on the hearing items by email at BOSCOMMENT@GOOCHLANDVA.US or by phone at 804-556-5811, and anyone could attend to speak during the hearing period.

Adjusted cash proffer amounts took effect July 1 for new building permits on lots subject to a cash proffer, the same day the Board of Supervisors’ adopted $171 million FY27 budget took effect.
