Pedestrian Killed by Vehicle at Cherry Capital Airport Friday Evening

A pedestrian died Friday after an accident on Cherry Capital Airport property, with the victim's identity withheld and investigators working alongside airport shuttle contractor Metropolis to determine what happened.

Cherry Capital Airport confirmed shortly after 7 p.m. Friday that a "pedestrian accident" had occurred earlier that day on airport property. "Emergency personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene," TVC said in its initial statement. "At this time, limited information is available. Airport teams are working with local authorities to assess the incident."

Airport CEO Kevin Klein said in the release that TVC was "actively gathering details and will share verified information as soon as possible. Our thoughts are with the individuals involved, and we are focused on supporting the ongoing response."

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., TVC issued a second update confirming the worst. "We are deeply saddened to inform that the incident resulted in a fatality," the statement read. "Airport personnel are actively working with local authorities and Metropolis, the company contracted by the airport for shuttle and parking services, as the investigation continues. Out of respect for those involved and to support the ongoing response, no further details are being released at this time. Additional media inquiries and questions may be directed to Metropolis."

The identity of the person who died has not been released, pending the investigation and out of respect for those involved.
