Traverse City-born Accidentals return home for Interlochen Bowl concert
The Accidentals will play Interlochen Bowl on Aug. 22, bringing a Traverse City classroom success story back to Northern Michigan.

The Accidentals are coming home to one of Northern Michigan’s most iconic stages. The Traverse City-born band will play Interlochen Bowl at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, with Emma Zinck and A to Z Music also on the evening lineup.
For longtime Grand Traverse County fans, the booking carries more weight than a standard summer concert. Interlochen says the band’s story began in a public high school classroom in Traverse City, where Savannah Buist and Katie Larson first joined forces before the project grew into a nationally known act with roots still planted here. The group later attended Interlochen Arts Academy at the same time, adding another local chapter to a story that started close to home.
That rise has brought recognition far beyond Northern Michigan. Interlochen’s artist bio says The Accidentals have drawn acclaim from NPR and Billboard, played festival dates, amassed millions of streams and worked with acts ranging from BTS to Kaboom Collective. The band describes its sound as indie folk, pop and rock, and its current lineup includes Buist, Larson and Katelynn Corll.
The setting matters as much as the set list. Interlochen Bowl was built in 1928 for the first season of Interlochen Arts Camp and remains one of the oldest structures on campus. The venue sits on the shore of Green Lake and offers both chair and lawn seating, a combination that has long made it a centerpiece of summer performances at Interlochen.
The Bowl show will also include premium seating, with relaxed Adirondack-style chairs, a complimentary concession item and a drink. Interlochen says premium availability is limited. General tickets start at $28 and will go on sale May 15, with sales handled exclusively through Interlochen’s official ticketing site.
For Traverse City, the return is bigger than nostalgia. It is a homegrown success story brought back to the place where it began, on a marquee stage that has watched generations of artists come through and, in this case, welcomed back one of its own.
