Greensboro Police Investigate Bessemer Avenue Shooting, One Person Hospitalized
One person hospitalized after a Saturday afternoon shooting on Bessemer Avenue, a corridor that saw Greensboro's 13th homicide of 2025.

A person was shot in broad daylight on the 2300 block of Bessemer Avenue on Saturday, the latest in a series of gun incidents along a corridor that has drawn Greensboro police responses multiple times in the past year.
Officers with the Greensboro Police Department arrived at approximately 3:41 p.m. on March 28 to find one person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. GPD classified the case as an aggravated assault investigation, and no suspect information had been released by Sunday.
The afternoon timing and the open investigation have heightened concern on a stretch that has seen its share of gun calls. Bessemer Avenue, spanning central and eastern Greensboro, has been the site of repeated shooting incidents over the past year. A fatal shooting on East Bessemer Avenue in 2025 became Greensboro's 13th homicide of the year, claiming the life of Marsalis Davon Murphy, 39. Investigators also made arrests tied to a homicide on the 3200 block of East Bessemer Avenue in April 2025, according to GPD newsroom records. A separate shooting near the 2300 block at the Summit Avenue intersection prompted a heavy police presence and left multiple shell casings at the scene.

Without a named suspect, detectives will typically canvass the neighborhood, pull surveillance and phone video, and solicit witness accounts. Anyone with information about the March 28 shooting is asked to contact the Greensboro Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers.
GPD has not publicly addressed whether the shooting connects to prior incidents on the corridor. No motive has been identified, and the investigation remains active.
