Victims seeking help in Greensboro can now return to the Family Justice Center’s original office at the Katie S. Cashion Center, 201 S. Greene St., as Guilford County closed the Courthouse Pop-Up inside the Guilford County Courthouse and prepared to relocate services back to Greene Street. County officials announced the temporary site would be closed Thursday, Jan. 22, and Friday, Jan. 23, and said “FJC staff anticipate resuming client service at its Greene St. office on Monday, Jan. 26.”

The move follows a July blaze that initially drove the center from Greene Street. WFDD reported the main office was closed “after a fire on July 6,” and the Rhino Times described the incident as causing “significant smoke and water damage throughout the building, triggering a full evacuation and a prolonged closure.” County leaders said the courthouse pop-up was a stopgap while repairs moved forward.

The Courthouse Pop-Up operated inside the Guilford County Courthouse on Eugene Street in Greensboro while Greene Street was out of service. WFDD noted the temporary site had weekday hours “Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.” Rhino Times characterized the courthouse location as a temporary substitute that “was never meant to replace” the Greene Street facility.

Guilford County’s public notice directed residents to alternatives during the brief courthouse closure. The notice said residents could visit the FJC in High Point at 505 E. Green Dr. during walk-in hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., call the FJC at 336-641-SAFE (7233), or visit GuilfordCountyNC.gov/FJC to learn more. For immediate assistance the county reiterated: call 911 or contact the Family Service of the Piedmont’s 24-hour Crisis Line at 336-273-7273. WFDD also confirmed the Family Justice Center in High Point “remains fully operational and is open for walk-ins.”

Timing of the return contains differing public statements. Guilford County’s announcement set explicit closure days and an anticipated Jan. 26 resumption; WXII reported that the center “has been operating out of a temporary site for several months and has been back at the Katie S. Cashion Center on South Greene Street for about a month, according to officials.” The county notice used the word “anticipate” when describing the Jan. 26 resumption.

County leaders framed the Greene Street return as more than a move back to an address: Rhino Times wrote, “The return marks an important milestone in a long and often frustrating process” and quoted officials saying the goal is “to restore full, centralized services in a facility designed specifically for the Family Justice Center’s mission – something the courthouse pop-up was never meant to replace.”

For immediate contact, the Guilford County Family Justice Center phone is 336-641-SAFE (7233). The county government’s main office remains at 301 W. Market St., Greensboro, NC 27401, with county office hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
