The Guilford County Board of Commissioners has announced a series of five public meetings in April that combine traditional budget town halls with broader discussions about the county's long-term strategic vision. Spread across five communities from Pleasant Garden to Colfax, the sessions give residents their clearest window yet into how the county plans to spend public money for fiscal year 2026-27.

The meetings are intentionally scheduled across different parts of the county, designed in part to give residents a clearer picture of how the fiscal 2026-27 budget is being developed while also gathering public input for a new strategic framework called "Advancing Our Livability."

Each session begins at 5:30 p.m. with the livability forum, followed by a county budget overview and community input from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Before the town hall sessions, residents can engage with county staff to learn about county services and provide feedback on the proposed strategic plan.

Guilford County is seeking community feedback on five identified goal areas: Healthy and Thriving People, Lifelong Success, Safe and Resilient Communities, Sustainable and Vibrant Communities, and Operational Support and Fiscal Sustainability.

The schedule opens Tuesday, April 7, at the Pleasant Garden Community Center, 5024 Alliance Church Road. The series continues Wednesday, April 8, at the Northeast Park Meeting and Event Center, 3441 Northeast Park Dr. in Gibsonville; those driving should note that GPS navigation works best using 4010 High Rock Road. Friday, April 10 brings the third session to Congdon Yards Community Center, 410 W. English Road, Suite A251, in High Point. The fourth session is Tuesday, April 14, at Barber Park Event Center, 1500 Barber Park Dr. in Greensboro. The final session closes out the run Wednesday, April 15, at GTCC Donald W. Cameron Campus, 7908 Leabourne Road, Colfax.

During the annual budget town halls, residents are invited to share their input on the county's funding priorities. County staff from finance, planning and public services, including the Division of Public Health, will participate in presentations and listening sessions at each stop.

It is an important time for residents to offer feedback because the commissioners are currently weighing how much extra property tax revenue to take from property owners when the new budget is approved in June.
