Guilford County Offices Closed Monday for Winter Weather, Reopen 10 AM Tuesday
Guilford County closed all general offices Monday because snow and ice made roads unsafe; offices are set to reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow and ice closing roads prompted Guilford County Government to suspend general county services, operations and facilities Monday, Feb. 2, with offices scheduled to reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3. The county posted the advisory Feb. 1 as winter conditions moved across the area, directing residents to official channels for updates and emergency alerts.
A county release stated, "Due to snowy and icy road conditions, all general Guilford County services, operations, and facilities were closed Monday, Feb. 2. Essential life and publi" and county online notices used a similar formulation in advance of the closure. County officials also told residents that "County staff will continue monitoring road and facility conditions and preparing work sites to safely serve residents when able."
Practical details for residents were included in county messaging. The county government offices are located at 301 W. Market St., Greensboro, and regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Health and human services contact lines listed on county pages include a clinic at 336-641-3245, dental numbers 336-641-3152 for Greensboro and 336-641-7733 for High Point, and WIC at 336-641-3214 in Greensboro and 336-641-7571 in High Point. The county urged people to consult its severe-weather page on the official Guilford County website for any additional delays or changes and to sign up for the G.E.A.N.I. alert system through the county's Ready Guilford portal to receive urgent notifications by phone or email. For courthouse schedules, residents were directed to the North Carolina courts website for the latest on courthouses in Greensboro and High Point.

City of Greensboro actions over the same winter period expanded the local disruption. The city canceled GuilfordWorks outreach events and community meetings on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1. City announcements also closed all Greensboro Public Library locations, regional parks, city recreation facilities, the Greensboro History Museum and the Cultural Arts Center for the Jan. 31–Feb. 1 weekend. In addition, the city suspended Bird e-scooter service beginning Saturday, Jan. 31 at 2 a.m. until further notice.
For residents, the county closure means routine in-person transactions, scheduled appointments and some county-run programs were unavailable Monday. Officials emphasized monitoring conditions and will resume services when safe. The county’s posting date of Feb. 1 establishes the timeline of the advisory; the reopening time of 10 a.m. Tuesday provides an initial expectation for when in-person services will resume. Readers should confirm the status of specific clinics, court dockets and scheduled appointments via the county’s severe-weather page, the Ready Guilford alert sign-up, or the state courts website, and follow local agency updates as county crews assess roads and facilities.
