Guilford County Parks Hosts Two Hiring Events for Summer Positions
Guilford County Parks will host two on-site hiring events to fill summer part-time roles, including lifeguards with free certification, affecting local youth and seasonal services.

Guilford County Parks is holding two on-site hiring events to recruit part-time staff for the upcoming summer season, a move aimed at bolstering park operations, pool staffing, and seasonal programming across the county. The department is seeking workers for park attendants, cashiers, event hosts, lifeguards, pool managers, and swim coaches at multiple locations including Bur-Mil Park in Greensboro, Gibson Park in High Point, Hagan-Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, Northeast Park in Gibsonville, and Southwest Park in Greensboro.
On-site interviews will be held at 201 W. Market St., 3rd Floor, Greensboro, NC 27401 on Monday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications in advance at GuilfordCountyNC.gov/SummerJobs and to bring proof of identification and direct deposit information to the interview. Candidates under 18 years of age will be required to obtain a parent or guardian signature upon hire. For hiring questions, Guilford County Human Resources can be reached at (336) 641-3324. Additional information about parks and facilities is available at GuilfordCountyNC.gov/Parks.
Wages for general positions range from $15 to $18.50 per hour. Lifeguard and pool manager hires will receive free American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification and CPR/AED training through Guilford County Parks, lowering a common barrier to pool employment and expanding pathways for younger residents to work in supervisory aquatic roles. The department is encouraging applicants as young as 15 years old to apply for lifeguard positions, opening seasonal employment to high school students who meet certification and hiring requirements.
The staffing push has immediate operational significance. Filling lifeguard and pool manager roles affects pool hours, swim lesson availability, and safety oversight at county pools. Hiring attendants, cashiers, and event hosts supports parks’ capacity to run concerts, sports leagues, and community events that drive local recreation and tourism. For families and students, these positions provide summer income, skills in public safety and customer service, and work experience that may influence future employment and civic participation.
For Guilford County residents weighing applications, submit materials ahead of the events to streamline the process, bring a driver’s license or passport and direct deposit details, and, if under 18, arrange for a parent or guardian signature. Successful hires will shape how parks operate this summer and determine the availability of programs that many residents rely on for recreation and childcare.
