Guilford County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, after multiple rounds of winter weather left some county roads impassable for school buses. The district said the later start is intended to improve visibility and safety for drivers as daylight returns.

“Guilford County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 6, 2026,” the district posted, adding that the measure “helps ensure that bus drivers are traveling in daylight for the best visibility of road conditions.” District officials warned that some streets remain too hazardous for buses to access, and that routing changes are in effect.

Parents should check the district’s snow page and the Here Comes the Bus app for the most current information about routes and times. “A list of potentially affected areas is linked on our website on the home page,” the district said, and families whose roads appear on that list are being asked to bring students to the nearest corner for pickup. WXII reported that “district leaders said some roads across the county remain impassable for school buses to travel, resulting in some changes to bus stops,” and cautioned that bus arrival times could be delayed.

The district provided a transportation call center number for questions: (888) 511-4GCS. Officials also noted that students who attend an early or middle college on a college campus “will follow the campus schedule.” GCS asked for patience from families as staff implement temporary changes to routing and pickup procedures.

This event follows other weather-related adjustments earlier in the week. Guilford County Schools announced no classes for students on Monday, Feb. 2, and moved to remote instruction on other days as conditions warranted. In earlier remote operations, afterschool activities were canceled and meal pickup was available from noon to 2 p.m. at Dudley High and High Point Central High.

For parents and caregivers, the practical implications are immediate: verify whether your street appears on the district’s list of impacted areas, plan to bring children to the nearest corner if necessary, and allow extra time for bus arrivals. Real-time tracking through the Here Comes the Bus app will show bus locations and updated pick-up windows.

As crews clear secondary streets and transportation staff reroute vehicles, families should expect continued adjustments. The district’s guidance and the transportation call center will be the fastest way to learn about any late changes to stops or schedules.
