David White Jr. was 16 years old when deputies found him shot multiple times at 4925 Harvest Road in McLeansville shortly before dawn on Oct. 21, 2024. More than 18 months later, no one has been charged, and the Guilford County Sheriff's Office is pressing the public for tips before the case goes cold.

The call that brought deputies to that eastern Guilford County address came in around 6:00 a.m.: an "unknown problem, man down." What they found was White's body. In the months that followed, investigators processed the scene, canvassed the surrounding neighborhood and interviewed potential witnesses. Despite those efforts, the case has remained open without an arrest.

The sheriff's office renewed its public appeal in early April 2026, asking anyone with information to contact Detective J.M. Allen directly at 336-641-2799. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Guilford County Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000, and some Crime Stoppers tips carry reward incentives for information leading to an arrest.

Investigators are still working to reconstruct the hours that brought White to Harvest Road before sunrise. An unfamiliar vehicle near that address on the night of Oct. 20, a conversation from that period, a detail that seemed insignificant at the time: any of those fragments could help fill gaps in the timeline detectives have spent a year and a half trying to close.

The renewed outreach reflects a dynamic detectives know well in unsolved homicide cases. Witnesses who were reluctant to talk sometimes reconsider as time passes. Memories that once seemed incomplete can sharpen. And details surfaced in unrelated investigations occasionally illuminate older ones. White's identity was released with his family's consent.

Detective Allen and Crime Stoppers remain the two active channels for anyone with a connection to what happened on Harvest Road that October morning.
