High Point Council to Vote on New Fire Truck Purchase, Budget Amendment
High Point's council took up a request to buy a 2026 Pierce Enforcer fire truck from Atlantic Emergency Solutions, alongside $413K in other spending items.

The High Point City Council took up a request from the Fire Department to authorize the purchase of a 2026 Pierce Enforcer pumper from Atlantic Emergency Solutions, paired with a budget ordinance amendment to fund the acquisition, when the council met Friday, March 13.
The agenda item asks council members to approve both the vehicle purchase and the corresponding budget amendment, though the specific purchase price and funding source for the pumper were not included in publicly available agenda materials. The council agenda packet lists an Agenda Item Report for the pumper item, along with what appears to be a quote from Atlantic Emergency Solutions, documents that would contain the full cost and staff recommendation.
The fire truck request shared the agenda with three other spending items carrying a combined price tag of more than $413,000. The Finance Committee recommended two of those purchases ahead of the full council vote. Council considered a sole-source purchase from iProject Solutions totaling $62,638.23 for six iPlan Review Stations for the city's Inspections Department, along with a $180,996.45 purchase from James River Equipment for emergency repairs, both backed by the Finance Committee.
The third item, recommended by the Community Development Committee, asked the council to approve a $169,444 agreement with Community Housing Solutions of Guilford, Inc. for construction of affordable housing in the Southside Community. That item also required council to approve a Resolution of Conveyance and authorize city officials to execute the associated documents, including a non-warranty deed.

The broader agenda packet included proclamations for the 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. observance and the Walk for Peace event, as well as an amendment to the city's Conflict of Interest Policy. Bid tabulation documents, a sample demolition plan and schedule, and a bid recommendation form were also included among the packet materials.
The purchase price for the 2026 Pierce Enforcer pumper, along with the ordinance number and specific budget account to be amended, remained outstanding details in the publicly posted materials as of the meeting date.
