Taylor Lewis Bradshaw, 34, was standing on a metal stool inside the attorney visitation room at the High Point Detention Center when a Guilford County Sheriff's Office detention officer found him on March 20, a large section of sheetrock pulled from the ceiling and scattered across the floor at his feet. When questioned, Bradshaw admitted he was attempting to escape, authorities said.

The officer had been conducting a routine round on B-level of Housing Unit 4 following lunch service when he discovered Bradshaw inside the visitation room. Bradshaw had been there following a meeting with his attorney. Investigators also found he was carrying several metal pieces that had been fashioned into weapons.

The plan, however, had a fundamental flaw. The sheriff's office said the area above the ceiling did not provide a means of exit from the facility.

Bradshaw was removed from Housing Unit 4, relocated to Housing Unit 2, and reclassified as an escape risk requiring closer supervision.

Sheriff Danny H. Rogers reported the incident, and Bradshaw now faces three new charges: felony possession of a weapon by a prisoner, misdemeanor flight escape, and misdemeanor injury to real property. Those charges stack on top of the felony larceny of a motor vehicle charge that first put him in custody on February 27, 2026.

Bradshaw is currently being held under no bond due to the Pretrial Integrity Act. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 31, 2026, at 8 a.m.
