Man Arrested in 2023 Death of 5-Month-Old Infant in Browns Summit
Travis Jaamal Sistrunk, 37, was charged with first-degree murder after allegedly inflicting fatal head injuries on his 5-month-old child in Browns Summit in 2023.

Travis Jaamal Sistrunk, 37, of Browns Summit was charged Friday with felony first-degree murder after investigators determined he allegedly inflicted fatal head injuries on his 5-month-old child, according to court records and the Guilford County Sheriff's Office. The arrest came more than two years after the infant's death.
Sheriff Danny H. Rogers said deputies responded to a cardiac arrest call at 201 Hickory Court in Browns Summit on Dec. 8, 2023, around 9:20 p.m. Emergency personnel were already performing life-saving measures on the infant when deputies arrived. The child was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, working alongside the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Guilford County District Attorney's Office. That collaboration ultimately led investigators to rule the death a homicide.
In addition to first-degree murder, Sistrunk faces a charge of felony child abuse causing serious injury. He is being held without bond at the Guilford County Detention Center. His first court appearance is scheduled for March 23 at 2 p.m.
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Allen at 336-641-2799 or Guilford County Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
