A teenage boy identified by local outlets as a Northwest Guilford High School student was fatally stabbed at a home on Oak Ridge Road in Summerfield on the evening of March 24, 2026, and Guilford County Major Crimes detectives are now leading a homicide investigation with no arrests announced.

Sheriff Danny H. Rogers said deputies responded at about 6:40 p.m. to 3117 Oak Ridge Road for a reported disorder. When they arrived, they found a juvenile male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his next of kin has been notified. Guilford County EMS confirmed that a second person was also injured.

Rogers said the incident is isolated and there is no immediate threat to the community. Deputies remained on scene as the investigation continued, and the sheriff's office said limited information would be released because of the nature of the case.

The victim's name has not been released publicly because he was a minor. The school district confirmed the loss in a statement: "Northwest High was informed today about the death of one of its students. Our hearts are with the family as they deal with this unimaginable loss. A crisis team is at Northwest High today to assist students and staff in processing their grief, and they will remain for as long as they are needed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of our students and staff."

There is no suspect information available at this time. Investigators have not said what led up to the stabbing or how the teen was connected to the home where it happened. Residents who spoke with reporters said the teen did not live at the residence on Oak Ridge Road.

The night of the stabbing, the scene looked nothing like the quiet stretch of rural Guilford County road it normally is. Deputies, EMS, and fire crews converged on the 3100 block of Oak Ridge Road and, according to neighbors, lined the road for hours. By the following morning, the home appeared quiet, with no crime scene tape or visible law enforcement presence.

One neighbor described the crime as deeply out of character for the area. "People probably still leave their doors open half the time. It's very, very rural...we don't have to worry about it normally," the neighbor said, adding: "Just praying for all the victims and the families involved."

Detectives are actively investigating the death as a homicide, and due to the nature of the investigation, authorities said limited information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Allen at 336-641-2799 or Guilford County Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
