Second Suspect Arrested in October Homicide, Multiple Robberies
High Point detectives arrested a second suspect in the October 10 homicide on Fern Avenue and charged him in several armed robberies around North Main Street, developments that could affect community safety and local policy discussions. The arrests bring new details to an ongoing investigation and underscore questions about crime patterns and law enforcement response in Guilford County.

Detectives with the High Point Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit arrested Renard D. Hagood, a 28 year old man from High Point, on November 24, 2025 and charged him with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder in the fatal shooting that occurred October 10 on Fern Avenue near Kent Street. Hagood was also charged in connection with multiple armed robberies at local businesses, and will be taken to the Guilford County Jail in High Point.
The charges against Hagood allege involvement in three separate robberies on North Main Street and at Fast Fuels on North Main. According to the department release, the incidents include an August 11 robbery at Fast Fuels on 2907 N Main Street where he faces robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pointing a gun, a September 4 robbery at Family Dollar at 944 N Main Street with charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pulling a gun, and a September 28 incident at Fairway One Stop at 1010 N Main Street where he is charged with felony accessory before the fact and felony accessory after the fact.
These arrests follow the October 17 arrest of Kahlil Barrier, a 28 year old High Point man who was charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder and has been held in the Guilford County Jail with no bond. The shooting on October 10 left Quadarius Hill, 35 of Greensboro, dead at the hospital, while another victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. Police say the victims and the suspects knew each other and that the shooting was not random. The investigation remains active under case report number 2025 25484.
For residents, these developments matter for public safety and local governance. The arrests may influence conversations about resource allocation for policing, support for victim services, and prevention programs in neighborhoods near Fern Avenue and North Main Street. They also highlight the work of the Street Crimes Unit in pursuing linked violent and property crimes, and the continuing need for community cooperation.
