20-Year-Old Dies After Mustang Crashes Into Tree on South Loop East
A gray Ford Mustang crossed all lanes of South Loop East before hitting a tree late Saturday, killing a 20-year-old man whose identity remains unconfirmed.

A 20-year-old man was killed late Saturday night after the gray Ford Mustang he was driving lost control on South Interstate Highway 610, crossed all lanes of traffic, and slammed into a tree near the 4700 block of South Loop East, according to the Houston Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. on March 7. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Medrano and Officer R. McLemore reported that the Mustang was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control and struck a retaining wall. The vehicle then crossed every lane of the freeway, left the roadway, and hit a tree before coming to rest in the grassy median between the South Loop East feeder road and the main lanes.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The identity of the deceased has not been released. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is responsible for verifying his identity before any formal identification is made public.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division is leading the investigation, logged under incident number Inc. #030721426-Y. No cause for the loss of control has been officially stated, and no citations or charges have been announced. The investigation remains ongoing.
