A 20-year-old man was found fatally shot in the driver’s seat of a vehicle after his car crashed at 5103 Bell Street, following an apparent shooting while he sat in a vehicle on the 5100 block of Clay Street, police say. The sequence of events unfolded at about 8 p.m. Sunday, when officers responding to a shooting call located the crash scene on Bell Street and discovered the injured man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man from the Bell Street crash scene to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to responding units and investigative summaries. The reports do not name the hospital or provide further medical details beyond multiple gunshot wounds and pronouncement at the hospital.
Witnesses at the Clay Street location told investigators the man was shot by an unknown suspect while sitting in his vehicle and then attempted to flee by driving away, crashing shortly afterward at 5103 Bell Street. After the gunfire, witnesses said they saw two males running northbound on foot through M.C. Cullinan Park; no descriptive details of the fleeing males have been released by investigators.
The Houston Police Department Homicide Division has opened a homicide investigation and detectives C. Davidson and J. Robles are assigned to the case. HPD materials associated with the investigation include the internal identifiers JKS/ECR 2-17-26 and Inc. #021101326. "The identity of the deceased is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences," investigators stated in the case summary.

No arrests or suspect identities have been announced; investigators continue to seek witnesses and evidence from both the Clay Street area and the Bell Street crash scene. Some reports have characterized the area as Greater Eastwood, though the primary locations in the investigation remain the 5100 block of Clay Street and 5103 Bell Street, with the fleeing route through M.C. Cullinan Park.
Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. If you were in the Clay Street or Bell Street area around 8 p.m. Sunday or have surveillance video from nearby homes or businesses, call those numbers and reference the incident identifiers. Investigators have also asked that people avoid speculating about motive or identities until HPD completes forensic and witness interviews.
