Cypress Creek firefighters battle blaze on Fallbrook Drive in northwest Harris County
Fire crews and Precinct 4 deputies were working a structure fire in the 9000 block of Fallbrook Drive, and officials told neighbors to stay away as delays built in northwest Harris County.

Firefighters with the Cypress Creek Fire Department were battling a structure fire in the 9000 block of Fallbrook Drive in northwest Harris County, with deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office assisting at the scene and warning nearby drivers and residents to stay clear while the emergency response continued.
Authorities said the cause of the fire was still unclear and had not said whether anyone was hurt. The scene drew a large response in a part of the county where emergency crews often move quickly through tight neighborhood streets, and officials urged the public to avoid the area if possible because delays were expected around the 9000 block.

Cypress Creek Fire Department operates as Harris County Emergency Services District 13, serving a 25-square-mile district in northwest Harris County just outside Houston. The combination department says it has about 150 firefighters and staffs full-time and volunteer personnel around the clock, a scale that reflects how much of the county’s northwest side depends on the district for rapid fire protection and rescue coverage.
The fire also revived memories of another major blaze on the same stretch of road. In July 2023, a three-alarm apartment fire at Coronado Park Apartments in the 7600 block of Fallbrook Drive left one man in critical condition and displaced about 40 people after crews spent nearly seven hours extinguishing the flames. That earlier fire showed how quickly a large emergency on Fallbrook Drive can ripple beyond the immediate scene, affecting access, traffic and housing for nearby residents.

By Thursday evening, crews were still working the latest fire and officials were continuing to keep the public away from the 9000 block. With the cause still unknown and injury information still pending, the immediate concern for neighbors remained simple: stay out of the area, expect traffic problems and let firefighters clear the scene before returning to normal travel on Fallbrook Drive.
