A one-and-a-half-mile stretch of FM 1960 became a moving crime scene as a convicted felon allegedly stole a BMW, seized a pistol, pointed a gun at shoppers and fired shots before deputies caught up with her in north Harris County.

Jaquisha Crawford, 34, is accused of driving along the corridor on Sunday and carrying out a string of escalating crimes that began at an AutoZone near Ella Boulevard. Investigators said Crawford spotted a BMW left running in the parking lot, drove away in the car and took the owner’s 9 mm pistol from inside.

Court documents say Crawford then used that same gun to try to rob two other people of their car keys. When they would not hand them over, investigators said she fired twice into the air. She later returned to AutoZone, where police said she held two more people at gunpoint inside the store and again demanded their car keys.

From there, the alleged spree widened. Police said Crawford stole a truck and fired at people at several locations, including Shade Bar and Grill. A witness told ABC13 that she pointed a gun at a manager and fired in the parking lot, turning a busy commercial stop into an immediate public threat.

Deputies eventually found Crawford walking around on Nanes Road while brandishing a weapon at bystanders, investigators said. She was detained at FM 1960 and Cypress Station, where ABC13 reported she kicked a deputy in the chest during the arrest. Officials said she was already on parole after biting and kicking another Harris County sheriff’s deputy in 2023.

Crawford now faces nine charges, including aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and burglary. Her bond was set at $420,000, and court records say she must wear a GPS monitor if she posts bond.

The case lands in a corridor Harris County is already trying to reinforce. The sheriff’s office plans to relocate its District 5 patrol station to the FM 1960 area between US 290 and SH 249 in a $15 million project that county officials say is still pending property acquisition. The same strip drew federal scrutiny before, after Keiffer Frederick Edwards received a 191-month sentence in a separate 2022 FM 1960 carjacking and shooting case near Gatewick.
