Harris County deputies investigate possible stabbing at Katy Waffle House
A late-night fight at a Katy Waffle House left two people hurt and shut the restaurant for hours while deputies worked to determine whether a stabbing occurred.

Harris County deputies are investigating a possible stabbing at a Waffle House in northwest Harris County after a fight between an employee and five or six customers left two people injured and forced the restaurant to close for several hours.
The confrontation happened about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Waffle House on West Little York Road near Fry Road in the Katy area. Crime scene tape remained wrapped around the building until at least 6 a.m. Sunday as investigators worked the lot outside the 24-hour restaurant.

Deputies said one employee injured one of the customers during the fight and are still trying to determine whether that customer was actually stabbed. The employee was also injured, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said it is considering the case a possible act of self-defense.
Everyone involved is expected to survive, according to investigators. The restaurant’s closure for several hours disrupted service at Waffle House #1349, located at 1275 Fry Rd. and 19886 W. Little York Road in Katy, a location that normally operates around the clock when it is not closed for an incident.
Waffle House says it has more than 1,900 locations across 25 states and was founded in 1955, making the Katy store part of a national chain that is often open through the night along major suburban corridors. In this case, the focus remained on what happened inside the restaurant before dawn, and whether the injuries came from a stabbing or from the broader fight that drew in multiple customers.
